The City has reviewed its path network and prioritised the construction of several new paths in the 2026/27 financial year. We want your feedback on the path proposed in your street, to enable us to plan the construction timetable for the year.

Benefits of paths

  • Great for all ages - they enable prams, young children on bikes, wheelchairs and mobility scooters
  • Encourage physical activity by making it easier to get around
  • Improved pedestrian safety, with a buffer between people on foot and vehicles
  • Improved connectivity to parks, shops, schools and community facilities

How we choose locations

The proposed paths are to help meet the needs of the growing community. They have been shortlisted following assessment of:

  • Community concerns
  • Connections to existing paths
  • New developments
  • Potential frequency of use

Path specifications

Unless mentioned otherwise, the paths will be constructed from grey concrete.

Verges will be inspected prior to work on your street and any reticulation impacted during the works will be re-instated.

Existing crossings intersecting with a proposed path may be retained provided they comply with the City's crossing specification and are in good condition. However, generally the path has priority over the crossing to ensure grade is maintained and trip hazards are minimised. Where existing crossings do not comply with the City's crossing specification, the crossing will be replaced when the new path is installed.
