Rail revitalisation project

8 February 2024

Along with the Thornlie - Cockburn Link and the Armadale Line Level Crossing Project, Metronet and the Public Transit Authority (PTA) are also running a rail revitalisation project.

During the Armadale and Thornlie Line shutdown the PTA will be undertaking major maintenance between Kenwick and Sherwood stations, as this section of rail is some of the oldest on the PTA network. This includes the stations of Kenwick, Maddington, Gosnells and Seaforth within the City of Gosnells.

The work will include the renewal of 15kms of track, 25 pedestrian crossings and 10 level crossings, and improving and installing new drainage systems. There will also be upgrades to the overhead lines, communications, and signals facilities to connect to works being completed on METRONET’s Victoria-Park Canning Level Crossing Removal project.

The renewal of the pedestrian and vehicle level crossings will require short term closures of each crossing. More information on each closure will be provided by the PTA and METRONET as they are scheduled.

If you have any questions on the works please contact info@metronet.wa.gov.au or contact the 24/7 Infoline on (08) 9326 3666.
