Business is buzzing at Nicholson Road

5 April 2024

Alongside the busy roadworks site, the hustle and bustle of the local businesses on Nicholson Road in Canning Vale continue in full swing.

People are visiting the gym, children are learning to swim, and the local grocers are stocking up their supplies.

With over 50 businesses operating in the Nicholson Road commercial precinct, from food marts and healthcare services and suppliers to car workshops and building suppliers, the addition of the new Nicholson Road Station as part of the METRONET Thornlie-Cockburn Link will make it safe for pedestrians and improve vehicle and bus connections to the future train station.

Thornlie-Cockburn Link Construction Manager Jarrid Burton acknowledges that local businesses may feel some disruption from the roadworks and encourages continued patronage to support these businesses.

“Businesses are open and trading as usual as the Nicholson Road realignment works are underway,’ said Jarrid.

“While there are some changes to how you might access your local businesses, access is still available to every business. Please follow the detour signs and plan your journey by checking the detour maps on the METRONET website. Your local businesses welcome your continued support during this time.”

From late April to October, there will be further changes to the road arrangement to support the safe construction of the eastbound lanes on Nicholson Road. These changes include driveway closures along Nicholson Road between Hughes Street and Passenger Place (formerly Canna Drive), and the temporary closure of Panama Street and Vostan Road next to Nicholson Road.
