Why a dog park at Sutherlands Park?

Council committed to providing an enclosed dog park within Sutherlands Park as a result of community consultation regarding the Sutherlands Park Master Plan.

Why choose this part of Sutherlands Park?

The Master Plan shows long term development plans for the entire Sutherlands Park site, including SPLASH, sporting reserves and pavilions, parking and parks maintenance facilities.

The proposed dog park location was selected for a variety of reasons that include:

  • It is a large enough area that sits outside current and planned active sporting reserves
  • It is already reticulated
  • There is space for additional car parking adjacent to the area
  • Pedestrian networks can be connected easily
  • Easy access from Gay Street
  • The underground sewer line and overhead power lines on the strip between reserves E and F limit further development opportunity.

Your feedback

We want to know what you would like to see in the enclosed dog park.

The City is encouraging diverse spaces for dog exercise to meet the needs of all our resident dogs. Not every dog exercises in the same way. What does your dog prefer?
