Community safety is everyone's responsibility

During the recent consultation undertaken by the City for the Strategic Community Plan, Safety was ranked as the second highest priority area for residents.

As part of the City's commitment to ensuring our neighbourhoods and activity centres are places that people feel confident in visiting, we are drafting a new Community Safety and Crime Prevention Plan.

What does the Community Safety and Crime Prevention Plan look at?

The City's current Community Safety and Crime Prevention Plan (CSCPP) was endorsed in 2018. The CSCPP guides the City's actions to improve community safety and reduce crime within the City of Gosnells.

There are five key objective areas under the Community Safety and Crime Prevention Plan. These objectives are 'focus areas' for the City when looking at how we can collaboratively work to improve safety within our community. The objective areas are:
Objective 1: To support and educate people about the impacts of crime and the importance of creating a safe community.

Objective 2: To encourage people to work together to strengthen community, achieve safety outcomes and celebrate their

achievements.

Objective 3: To target priority offences by working in partnership with the community and other stakeholders.

Objective 4: To design out crime and utilise technology towards community safety and crime prevention initiatives.

Objective 5: To take a City-wide internal approach to delivering community safety and crime prevention initiatives.
