Every year the City creates a capital works program to be completed within the financial year. This program includes upgrades, renewals and environmental maintenance projects across the 373 parks and reserves that the City manages.

Of these parks and reserves, less than 30% of them have an official name registered with Landgate. Registering place names with Landgate is important to ensure a singular recognisable name is given - allowing residents, emergency services, map providers and travellers to find our parks.

In order to systematically name all of our parks and reserves, the City has introduced a process to name a park when it appears within our capital works program. This means as work is completed at a park, the name is registered with Landgate and signs are installed.

Note, this is a different process to the naming of wetlands, where the City will work with the Langford Aboriginal Association to name wetlands using Noongar.

See the list of parks below that will be going through the naming process in the 2025/26 financial year.

Park naming process

  • Nominate parks and reserves to be formally named

Parks and reserves that are listed for capital works are reviewed to see if their names fit current conventions and standards.

The City will work to nominate appropriate names for parks and reserves, which meet standards set by Landgate.

  • Inform community members of the naming process

Once the City has nominated names for the selected parks, nearby residents will be informed via letter. This letter will contain a link to this page.

This page will contain information about the naming of the parks for that financial year.
