The City will soon commence construction of the first stage of the Dorothy Street to Tonkin Highway Principal Shared Path.
This is a key missing link of the shared path that runs along the Armadale Train Line from Armadale through to the City of Perth.
This construction will happen in three key stages, with the first stage constructed in the 2024/25 financial year.
Stage 1 - Construction of the shared path along the rail corridor on Seaforth Avenue in Gosnells in the 2024/25 financial year.
Stages 2 & 3 - Seaforth Avenue to Verna Street and Verna Street to Dorothy Street - to be designed and constructed in the 2025/26 financial year in consultation with the Department of Transport and the Public Transport Authority.
Stage 1 - Seaforth Avenue
Works along Seaforth Avenue will involve the following:
- Installation of 830 metres of shared path
- Slight road narrowing to allow for the new path
- Eileen Street and Seaforth Avenue roundabout reconstruction
- New kerbing
As part of this work, the exotic date palm in the roundabout will need to be removed. Once construction is complete, new waterwise landscaping will be installed.
It is anticipated this work will take six months to complete.
