Mary Carroll Park now open

19 March 2025

Mary Carroll Park is now open and already a popular place to play, especially after school.

Aboriginal culture has been recognised with a Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony at the official opening. The bespoke shade sails feature Aboriginal art, interpretive signage is in both English and Noongar and a yarning circle will encourage people to stop, sit and talk.

The playground is designed to suit all ages and all abilities with a path meandering from one end to the other. It features a massive gilgie with slides, musical play and climbing frames. There is a flying fox, wheelchair accessible spinner and exercise equipment sure to attract parents and older adults. The tap with dog bowl is for ability/guide dogs and is also a water source for critters.

Unice Robinson, dedicated volunteer leader of Friends of Mary Carroll Park, was honoured with the naming of the lookout over the lake.

This project was partially funded by a Lotterywest grant of $1 million.
